The Bird Bath/Pedestal Bowl Workshop
Intermediate Wheel Experience Required with Rob Buller
Available spots
Service Description
May 12, 11 am - 3 pm (Glaze session June 5th) This fun class is geared for those with intermediate wheel experience to get creative with project-oriented work, the theme being a bird bath or a pedestal bowl. Both these builds require a discussion about form and function to achieve the build with the guidance of master potter Rob Buller. Images below are AI generated. Students are encouraged to search Pinterest/Instagram to spark creativity and come in with some pre-determined builds they believe they are capable of achieving. Not all intermediate students have the experience to throw a large bird bath, but pedestal bowl is a good steppingstone to a full-fledged bird bath. Students learn to create elements not usually created, expanding their creative building process along with decorative and functional aspects and problem-solving issues that are apt to arise such as measuring appropriately the width of the vessel to match the height and width of a pedestal to support it both visually, aesthetically and functionally. Member Discount Applies. See Cathleen. Students return Thursday, June 5th, 12-2 pm or 5:30-7:30 pm for a glaze session with Cathleen or they may opt to have staff dip their pieces in pre-determined glazes. Students are responsible to purchase clay from the studio. Minimum of 6 participants for class to run.
